When OrdivaQR has grown enough, a share of its revenue will be dedicated to funding advanced gene therapy so that patients living with X-linked retinoschisis (XLRS) can one day access life-changing treatment that today many cannot afford.
Our mission
OrdivaQR builds QR menu and ordering software for restaurants, hotels, residences, pool cafes and transport. Beyond the product, we carry a social responsibility: to use the revenue we generate to make a tangible difference for a patient community. Our long-term goal is to reach a level of sustainable revenue at which we can fund a meaningfully sized contribution toward making advanced gene therapy accessible to people with XLRS. We are early on this journey — the page below describes the goal, how we intend to fund it, and the milestones we will report as we grow.
About XLRS
X-linked retinoschisis (XLRS) is a rare inherited eye disorder that affects the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. It usually begins in infancy or early childhood and can lead to vision that is hard to treat. Because it is X-linked, it most often affects boys, while girls can be carriers. There is no widely available cure today, and care focuses on preserving the vision a person has.
Why gene therapy
Advanced gene therapy aims to correct or replace a faulty gene rather than only treat the symptoms it causes. For X-linked disorders this is especially relevant because the disease originates in a specific gene carried on the X chromosome. A successful gene therapy can, in principle, address the root cause and reduce or prevent the downstream symptoms, which is why these therapies are so transformative — and so costly.
The high cost is the central barrier. A portion of it reflects the rarity of the disease, the complexity of delivering a working gene safely, and the small patient cohorts that make development expensive to validate. That is precisely the gap a sustained, community-funded approach is meant to close.
Why we are building toward this
As a business, OrdivaQR is fortunate to reach customers across many sectors and to grow with each new venue and order. We believe a healthy, growing revenue base is the most durable way to create impact: it scales with the value we deliver, and it lets us promise real, trackable funding rather than a one-off gesture. Our commitment is patient and long-term — we aim to build the revenue first, then direct a defined share of it toward XLRS gene-therapy access, reporting progress transparently along the way.
How funding works
Grow the revenue
Today, 100% of subscription revenue funds the product and its operations. As the customer base grows, the revenue base grows with it, building the surplus that eventually makes a funding contribution possible.
Set the threshold
We will publicly announce a predefined revenue threshold and the share of revenue we commit above it. We do not commit to a fixed donation today; we commit to the formula, the threshold and full transparency once the threshold is met.
Fund access
Above that threshold, the committed share is directed toward XLRS gene-therapy access — research, clinical programs and patient support that reduce the cost barrier for affected individuals and their families.
Transparency & accountability
Because this is a long-term commitment made in good faith, we will hold ourselves to full transparency:
- We will publish a revenue threshold and the percentage we commit, and we will not quietly change the formula.
- Once the threshold is met, we will disclose where the funds go, who we work with, and how much is committed.
- We will report progress regularly so the community can verify our commitment is being met.
- OrdivaQR is a business, not a registered charity; this page states an intention and a plan, not a guarantee of a specific donation amount or date.
The road ahead
This is a multi-year goal. Here is how we expect the journey to look:
- Build and stabilize the revenue base through product growth across verticals and regions.
- Define and publish the funding formula and threshold once revenue is sustainable.
- Engage with researchers and patient organizations to identify where funding has the most impact.
- Direct the committed share toward gene-therapy access and publish transparent results.
